The Sopranos is a drama series creat for the American viewers by David Chase. The show revolves around the life of a mobster living in New Jersey. The show premiered on January 10, 1999 on HBO.

James Gandolfini stars as Tony Soprano, the capo of a crime family named DiMeo based in New Jersey. Tony is the boss and the patriarch of the Soprano household. In the show, Tony struggle to bring balance between his family and his career as the mobster of a mafia. Tony is prone to depression that is why he seeks help from Dr. Jennifer Melfi, played by Lorraine Brasco, who is Tony’s psychiatrist. Dr. Melfi is a middle aged Italian-American who is divorced and is raising her son studying in college. AS Tony’s psychiatrist, she tries her best to treat Tony with the best of her ability though most of the times the two disagrees on various issues. Tony and Dr. Melfi have mutual sexual feelings for each other.

Tony is married to his wife Carmela Soprano, portrayed by Edie Falco. The couple has to children Meadow, portrayed by Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Anthony Junior, played by Robert Iler. Aside from Tony’s main family, his extended family also has great impact on his life. Included in the extended family of Tony are his mother Livia, played by Nancy Marchand, his sister Janice, played by Aida Turturro, his uncle Corrado “Junior” Soprano, played by Dominic Chianese, his cousin Tony Blundetto, portrayed by Steve Buscemi, and his nephew Christopher Moltisanti, portrayed by Michael Imperioli.

Also starring as the close circle of friends within the Dimeo crime family are Silvio Dante, played by Steven Van Zandt; Paul “Pauli walnuts” Gualtieri, played by Tony Sirico; Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bompensiero, portrayed by Vincetn Pastore; Patsy Parisi, payed byb Dan Grimaldi; Furio Giunta, played by Federico Castelluccio; bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri, played by Steven Schirripa; Richie Aprile, played by David Proval; Ralph Cifaretto, played by Joe Pantoliano; Eugene Pontecorvo, played by Robert Funaro; and Vito Spatafore, played by Joseph Gannascoli.
